Spiced Pecan Green Beans

Spiced Pecan Green Beans

Clicking the link above brings you to the restaurants recipe

I have only been to Firebirds maybe 4 times total and each time I seem to be in P2 with limited choices. I usually just get the same thing in any restaurant because it will work every time which is just steak, veggies, and red wine. These green beans are seriously the best green beans I have ever had though and since my recent visit to the restaurant for my anniversary these have still been on my mind so I am going to make them myself at home following the recipe I found on Firebird's blog which I posted below.

Ingredients:
1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
2 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup spiced pecans (you can buy these at your local grocery store)
Steak seasoning
2 Tbsp kosher salt

Note:  You can go easier on the butter and use less pecans just enough for flavor without adding too many calories

Preparation:
Bring a pot of water and 2 tablespoons of kosher salt to a boil. Add the green beans and boil for 2-3 minutes. Immediately remove green beans and place into a bowl of ice water. This process is called blanching, which will stop the cooking process and will help the green beans hold their crunchy texture plus keep them bright green. Next, melt the butter in a sauté pan over medium low heat, add the pecans and cook until slightly browned. Then add the green beans, lightly season with the steak seasoning and toss well. Now, isn’t that better than just steaming or boiling? Enjoy!
