These low carb chocolate covered brandied pears for the HCG Diet are a good one for the holidays, any special occasion or for no reason at all. These work very well whether you are on P2 the losing phase of the diet or P3 the maintenance phase. They also work well with any low carb or eat clean diet.
My 5 year old grandson could not get enough of this and now he asks for it regularly. Don't tell anyone this is on your diet and make it for them. Its even better when you add sugar free whip cream. Make your own by whipping up some heavy whipping cream and a couple packs of sweet n low. The addition of the heavy whipping cream minus your carb for one meal could result in a bigger weight loss for the day
What you will need:
2-3 fresh or canned organic pears halved
coconut oil
coconut sugar
butter
cocoa powder
brandy
sweetener of choice I used Sweet n Low
vanilla extract
salt
You will use two small sauté pans. One for the pears and one for the sauce.
In your sauté pan for the pears:
Add a teaspoon of coconut oil, one teaspoon of coconut sugar, and one teaspoon of butter to pan on low heat
Add pears and brandy to oil, butter, and 1 pkg of sweet n low turning over pears to coat continue to cook on low heat until pears are heated through and brandy has reduced. *Can also substitute coconut sugar.
For one can of pears or approximately 2 medium/large pears I use approximately 1/4 cup or 4 tablespoons of brandy. You can add more or less if you like.
In your pan for sauce add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of butter on low heat. Stir in 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, sweetener to taste, and a dash of salt. Stir until combined and set aside.
Serve:
Add pears to plate, pour brandy sauce over top then drizzle chocolate from a spoon over top. Serves approximately 2-3 people.
This recipe has worked for both P2 and P3 with the addition of homemade sugar free whip cream for both phases as well.
Coconut sugar has a little effect on our glucose levels making it safe in small doses on the P2 phase of the HCG diet. You can find this type of sugar in your local health food stores, Walmart, some grocery stores and even Amazon where I found the best deal in bulk.
